What We Believe

“For God so loved the world that he gave His one and only Son,
that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life
John 3:16

Our theological (study of God) identity is based on Jesus Christ and his commandment to love God and love our neighbor. We believe Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6). As followers of Christ, we seek to to help others love the Truth and what it means to follow the Way in community and out in the community.

We live this out through worship, connection and service. We seek to create a space for people to come and worship the Lord, while developing a sense of connection, balance and healing that enables them to move forward on their life journey with Christ. God is calling us to constantly grow into something new, transforming ourselves to see as Jesus sees and to serve with love and compassion..

We are part of the Christian religion, the Reformed theological tradition, the Evangelical movement and the Presbyterian Church USA. We believe in the Triune God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe in the Sovereignty and Providence of God the Father, who created all things seen and unseen through Jesus Christ. We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, only begotten Son of the invisible God, firstborn over all creation, fully God and fully man, Head of the Church, author and finisher of our faith; His death for our sins; His resurrection and eventual return. We believe in the regenerative power of the Holy Spirit; whose fruit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. We believe that without God, nothing is possible and with God, all things are possible.

We believe God’s love is Unconditional, Unmistakable and Unending and that we are blessed to be faithfully faithful, trusting in the Lord! At First Pres, we know that in this world we will have trouble, but we can take heart as Jesus has overcome the world. We know the end of the story is a new beginning and that together, we can bring the peace of Christ and a bit of the kingdom of heaven to earth when we seek the will of God and trust in the Lord. We believe…

May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
