Our Ministries
Church life can be a wonderful way to connect, meet people and serve the Lord. We want to help you find the ways to connect that are right for you as you worship, grow and serve. All of it adds up to discipleship, which means following Jesus as we each journey through the trials and celebrations of life. At First Pres, we believe in giving back to God and sharing the blessings we have received… we say we are “blessed to be a blessing” Giving back can be expressed with our Time, Talent or Treasure. We would love for you to consider serving on one of our Teams, however, there is never any pressure to serve. We believe the Spirit will guide and move each person and are happy to let that happen as the Lord wills.
Children’s Ministry: Kids for Christ
Our teachers follow carefully selected curricula that are Biblically-based and Christ-centered. Classes are taught in the Christian Education building during the worship service. On most Sundays, children come to worship with their parents before being dismissed to Sunday School; on Communion Sundays, children go directly to class before returning to participate in Communion. We welcome the participation of children in worship, reading Scripture and sharing their gifts.
Music Ministry
Music is an important part of the worship we offer to God at First Pres… we believe in music as a form of prayer. Our church is blessed to have gifted singers and skillful instrumentalists who help lead us and enhance our worship. We have a small and talented choir, a gifted musical worship team, an organ, and a grand piano. We embrace both traditional and contemporary music styles and we encourage everyone to sing and make a joyful noise! If you are looking to join the choir… we have a place for you!
Grow Team
Jesus calls us to grow as we follow Him and to reach out to others and share the love of Christ. We continue the work Jesus began and to which the church is called – sharing the Good News in both word and deed. The Grow Team gets together for fellowship and project/mission outreach planning on a monthly basis. Everyone is invited as we share the Good News and serve the Lord in a variety of ways.
Care Team
As people walk through life, sooner or later, everyone needs a little help! Our Care Team supports the church family and friends (and even strangers) as they navigate the changes experienced in every season of life. At First Pres, you don’t have to go through it alone, whatever “it” is for you right now. We are here to listen, and together with faith and by seeking God’s wisdom we can help you take the next steps. Our Care Team includes our Deacons and our Pastor, who is available for counseling and visits.
Gather Team
The Gather Team is designed to promote the building of relationships with God and others whenever we gather in worship or to share meals together. The Gather Team is responsible for helping to plan our worship and fellowship gatherings. This Team has a heart for community building and for growing the family of God in community.
Support Team
Our Support Team actively works to care for the property and the staff. It encompasses HR/Personnel and maintenance of our buildings and grounds. Whatever is needed to “support” the daily operational needs of the church, this Team is making it happen. Team members and volunteers are always welcome to assist with the multitude of projects that arise!
